Nicolas Hulot , born the April 30th 1955 with Lille, is a Reporter, ecologist and writer French. Following the impact of its television program Natural Ushuaia , it engaged more and more in environmental protection and sensitizing of the general public on the ecological questions.
It creates in 1990 the Ushuaia Foundation which becomes in January 1995 the Fondation Nicolas-Hulot for nature and the man. After having planned to be candidate with the presidential election of 2007 so that the urgent ecological questions weigh in the electoral campaign, it withdraws in January 2007 after the signature of the ecological Pact by the majority of the candidates of the parties “of government”.
The mother of Monique Hulot had married Georges Moulun, of a family among richest of France which very lost whereas it had made her fortune in the construction of the first Barrage S Hydroélectrique S. Philippe Hulot dies of a cancer and leaves a family of three children whereas Nicolas Hulot is just 15 years old. His/her brother, Gonzague, commit suicide the Christmas Day whereas Nicolas Hulot is only 19 years old. May 19th, 2006, the FNHB celebrated its 10th birthday and launched on this occasion the Challenge for the Earth to Belgium.
In 2005, the agency of the environment and control of energy (Ademe) and the Nicolas-Hulot foundation for nature launch the operation “Challenge for the Earth”. They invite the public, the communities or the companies with being in the epic of the daily life, more respectful of the environment.
Nicolas Hulot is at the origin of the idea to include a Charte of the environment in the Constitution, which is effective since March 2005.

They estimate that the ecological Pacte proposed by Nicolas Hulot would have contributed to exclude from the start the topic of the ecology of the electoral campaign 2007, this topic being considered “already treated” since the candidates had signed the pact, and of this fact relegated to the second plan. They reproach Nicolas Hulot his absence of critic of the capitalist and financial economic system and its too close links supposed with Nicolas Sarkozy and the world of the big bosses. This is why the writers of the Decrease published on Internet a “anti-hulot pact”.
