Nicolas Heurtaut is a Master Menuisier in seats of the 18th century, born in 1720, died in 1771.
Biography
Nicolas Heurtaut is formed in the workshop of his father. He becomes Master Sculpteur in 1742 then main carpenter in seats in 1753.
It is probable that it worked for Jean Avisse, main carpenter in seats, as a sculptor.

- an armchair stamp of 1755 was sold for 1.352.000 € in December 2004 (world records for a seat of the 18th century).
Museum
- In the field of Villarceaux, with Chaussy, the new castle, built by the marquis of Buissière at the XVIIIe century, conceals very beautiful pieces and in particular a console of the cabinetmaker Nicolas Heurtaut.
- The Frick Collection: Armchair S and settees roughly going back to 1760, covered with tapestry of Beauvais (wool and silk), acquired in 1918.
- Cleveland Museum off Art: chair of 1755 (104,7 X 73 X 79.35 cm), bequeathed by Mrs. Severance A. Millikin in 1989.
- Museum of Louvre: armchairs in Beech gilded (going back to 1755/1759) coming from the collection Martial-Louis de Beaupoil de Saint-Aulaire (bishop of Poitiers in 1759), and bought by the museum in 1975.
- Castle of Versailles: armchair with the Queen and frame of 1758 in the Large Cabinet of the Dauphine one; gift Ortiz-Patino 1982
