Nicolas Grimal

Nicolas Grimal (born on November 13rd, 1948 with Libourne, the Gironde -), wire of Pierre Grimal, is a Egyptologist French.

Biography

Aggregate of traditional Letters in 1971, Nicolas Grimal becomes doctor d' État in 1984.

Since 1988, he is professor of Egyptology to the Sorbonne. Of 1989 with 1999 he was director of the French Institut of oriental archeology to the Cairo. Since 1990, he is scientific director of the Center free-Egyptian of study of the temples of Karnak (CFEETK).

It is titular pulpit of Egyptology of the Collège de France since 2000.

Honors

It obtained the Prix Gaston-Maspero of the Académie of the inscriptions and the humanities in 1987 and, in 1989, the Prix Diane Potter-Boes of the French Academy. He is officer in the order of the academic Palmes, knight in the National order of the Merit, knight in the national order of the Légion of honor and member of the Académie of the inscriptions and the humanities (2006.
