Nicolas Defrêcheux , born with Liege in 1825, was secretary of the vice-chancellorship of the Université of Liege, before becoming porter at the medical college of this same university.

After some literary tests in French language, it reaches the celebrity in 1854 with a nostalgic lament in Wallon inhabitant of Li2ege. It will publish many collections of Walloon songs.
