Nicolas Christmas-Agnes
Nicolas, Jacques Christmas-Agnes , born with Carteret (Handle) the May 17th 1794, died with Cherbourg (Handle) the July 5th 1866, was deputy and mayor of Cherbourg.
It makes its studies in Cherbourg then with Caen and between the Polytechnic school from where it brings out engineer military geographer. After short a 2 years military career, where it took part in the Countryside of Saxony, it is withdrawn in Cotentin. After being itself occupied of some commercial businesses, it becomes consular judge of Cherbourg. City council man this city, assistant after 1830, it is elected mayor in 1833. He is also elected at the general advice of the Manche. Unfortunate candidate with legislative of 1842 against Armand de Bricqueville, it is elected after the revolution of 1848 like representative of the people on May 13rd, 1849 (8th on 13), and votes with the Parti of the Order. Beaten with the local elections in 1845, it withdraws political life after the coup d'etat of 1851.
He was member of the academic Company of Cherbourg.
