Nicola Canali

Mgr Nicola Canali is a Prélat Italy N of the Roman Catholic church (June 6th 1874 - August 3rd 1961) which announced the election of the pope Jean XXIII in 1958.

Wire of Italian aristocrats, it is ordered priest in 1900 after having supplemented its studies with the pontifical college of Capranica. It took down also a doctorate in theology and canon law of the Gregorian pontifical University of Rome. The cardinal Rafael Merry del Val named it attending the secretariat of State of the the Vatican in 1903 and he became the personal secretary of this last when this one took its retirement in 1914. The pope Pie XI named it with the Congregation of the Religious offices into 1926 before creating it cardinal in 1935. The successor with Pie XI, Pie XII named it with the head of the pontifical Commission for the State of the Vatican City where its influence within the Roman Curie and in the government of the Church will be decisive; he was in load of the department of finances as from 1944.
