Nico Richter

Nico Richter (* December 2nd 1915 with Amsterdam; † August 16th 1945 with Amsterdam) was a Dutch type-setter.
Biography
Nico max Richter is the junior by the three children of Izaak Richter, dentist in Amsterdam. As of the school age, it receives its first lessons of violin and at twelve years, the appearance on stage of a type-setter impresses it so much so that it declares: " That I want it too! ".In September 1927, it integrates an university and in 1930 starts its course of violin with Sam Tromp with which are addressed his parents, worried by the fact that their son forsakes the school for the violin. It also composes its first early works which it will not validate all later.
At the end of its schooling in 1932 and on pressure of his father it is registered as medical student with Amsterdam. It begins simultaneously the study of the violin near Sepha Jansen with the academy of Amsterdam. The first public representation of one of its compositions takes place on March 16th, 1935: it is about the concerto for made up violin at 17 years.
It takes part in a masterclass with Hermann Scherchen in Belgium and receives the price Henry the Ox for its concerto for violoncello. Hermann Scherchen itself directs the representation to Brussels (with the Palais of Beautiful arts ) and carries the partition with him with Winterthour. The famous violoncellist Emanuel Feuermann plays there over there the solo part of violoncello.
A concert also takes place in its birthplace this year there. Nico Richter becomes famous, that it is as director of the orchestra of the MUSA students, as type-setter near the Dutch festival Maneto (Manifestatie Nederlandsche Toonkunst) created in 1937 or like critic of works of Igor Stravinski or Darius Milhaud in Amsterdam. July 23rd, 1937 its Sinfonia Divertimento is played radio of Brussels.
Beginning 1940 his/her older sister emigrates in the United States while it is solved to remain in Amsterdam with his parents. In May the Netherlands are invaded by German and the persecution of the Juif S grows month in month.
In September 1940 Nico Richter marries the violonist Hetta Scheffer who is not Jewish and to which it is promised in marriage since 1937. Beginning 1942 the mixed marriages are prohibited by the Nazis. At the end of October 1941 Nico Richter congédie its employees with the orchestra of the students and finishes despite everything its studies of medicine.
In the night from April 17th to 18th 1942 Nico Richter is imprisoned. It is interned with Amersfoort from November 6th to January 18th, 18 January 1943 then off-set with the camp of Vught. In this camp during a few months an orchestra exists in which he collaborates. November 15th, 1943 it arrives at Auschwitz via the camp of Westerbrook. The October 16th 1944 it is transferred to Dachau in the external camp from Kaufering. A death camp by work for the construction of an underground bunker.
The camp is released by the Americans the April 27th 1945 and Nico Richter arrives in July 1945 at Eindhoven. His Hetta wife brings back it to Amsterdam in the ambulance. In the little of weeks which remain to him, it composes two sentences of a serenade. He dies the August 16th 1945 four months before its thirtieth birthday.
