Nicky Hopkins
Nicky Hopkins , born the February 24th 1944 with London and deceased the September 6th 1994 in Nashville (Tennessee), was a Pianiste of rock'n'roll having played in particular with the Rolling Stones primarily with the piano, and sometimes with the organ and the synthetizer.
Biography
It supplements well the play of the other pianist of Rolling Stones Ian Steward, very rock'n'roll and percussion, by its style diversified and very mélodieux, for example throughout the album Their satanic Majesties Request , and on the following albums on certain pieces to the album Black and Blue .
In the absence of Keith Richards and at the period when Brian Jones had disappeared, it records an album extremely successful between blues and boogy with the rhytmic section of Rolling Stones (Charlie Watts & Bill Wyman), with the complicity of the guitarist Ry Cooder who also produced there an excellent service with the slide guitar, and appreciable appearances of Mick Jagger with the song and the harmonica. This album is called Jaming with Edwards according to the nickname which was given to Nicky Hopkins. The titles of this album remain in general in only one tonality, which facilitates the fusion of a jam session. Among other originalities, the last title attacked by Nicky Hopkins out of faggot which is transformed then into Boogie, and some singing exercises of Mick Jagger on several octaves. It spends a few years to the USA, to California or it will off be integrated into Quicksilver Messenger Service then in New Riders the Purple Sage.
It took part in the concerts of Rolling Stones around 1970, but more rarely then because of its health. He wrote some albums solo and played with other groups like in particular the Beatles.
He also played on the albums of the Who Who' S Next of 1971 and The Who By Numbers of 1975. It is finally, the pianist of Jeff Beck Group (1967-1969). He was the only musician of this formation to be taken part in Woodstock. He dies in 1994 of the complications of a preceding intestinal surgery at 50 years.
