Nick Leeson
Principal production site of gear boxes of PSA Peugeot Citroen, the site of Metz was open in 1969 by Citroen in the district of Borny. With the factory of Driving S of Trémery, it formed the subsidiary company Société of Autombile Mechanics of the East (SMAE).
The site is located on the industrial park Borny near the by-pass, driving with the A31. It includes/understands 16 ha of buildings on a ground of 41 ha. It includes/understands the three stages of manufacture of the gear boxes:
- machining of the principal parts in Steel, cast iron or Aluminum
- heat treatment of the steel parts
- assembly of the components
The site includes/understands approximately 2600 paid and produces approximately 7500 gear boxes per day, for the majority of the final factories of the group on the continent. In 2005, the site produces approximately:
- two thirds of box of the type MY, intended for the small-engined cars, and its controlled alternative MAP, which integrates an electronic management of the Embrayage and passage of the reports/ratios (sold under the mark " Sensodrive" on the Citroen C3 or " 2 Tronic" on the Peugeot 1007).
- a third of boxes of the type MLC, for the top-of-the-range and utility vehicles.
