Niña (ship)

The Niña is one of the caravels the first forwarding of Christophe Colomb in America, with the Pinta and the Caraque Santa Maria, discovering the first road return ticket between the New World and the Europe.

The nave also called Holy Claire , was smallest of the three, being able to move to 20 men from crew and 50 " tonneaux" weight.

The caravels belonged to technology protected by a secrecy from State in Portugal because according to the will of the king D.João II, these ships could not beings sold or lent the abroads without his authorization.

Under the command of the captain Vicente Yañez Pinzon, it left the port of Palos of Frontera the night of August 3rd, 1492.

Christophe Colomb itself takes his command for the return voyage in company of the Pinta , but a storm separates them from this one before arriving at Lisbon the March 4th 1493.
