Nguékhokh

Nguékhokh (or Nguekokh ) is a city of the west of the Senegal, near to the Small-Coast, in the south of Dakar.

History

Initially rural community, Nguékhokh reached the row of commune with whole share during decentralization in 1996.

In 1999, association Oaks and Baobab trees creates there, within the framework of the interdependent Tourisme, an international Center of reception and formation (CIAF).

Administration

The city is located in the Département of Me bour, a subdivision of the area of Thiès.

Geography

The city is on the trunk road N1 between Me bour and Rufisque.

The closest localities are Nguekokh Ouolof, Segueul, Keur Gonde, Medinatoul Mounawara, diam Bougoum, Tiekes, Ngaring and Ndaring Serere.

Geological physics

Population

At the time of the census of December 2002, the city counted 16.911 inhabitants.

In 2007, the population was estimated at 20.031 people.

Economic activities

Nguékhokh is close to several tourist centers of interest, for example the beaches of Saly or several protected areas, such as the Réserve of Bandia, the Natural reserve of Popenguine or the Community Natural reserve of interest of Somone.
