Ngor (or gor or Gor) is not one of the 19 common of district of Dakar (Senegal). It includes/understands a traditional village, modern installations (allotments, hotel infrastructures) as well as an island of the same name, the island of Ngor.

History

Administration

The common one belongs to the Arrondissement of Almadies in the Département of Dakar (area of Dakar).

Geography

The island of Ngor faces the village, to 400 m hardly.

On the coast, the closest localities are Gata, Diayane, Warar, Terme Southern, Tonghor, Ndiongarane and Taklou.

Geological physics

The climate is of type sahélien.

Population

The inhabitants are generally Lébous, come to settle in the Presqu'île of Cape Verde at the time of the bursting of the empire of the Djolof.

At the time of the census of 2002, the population of the commune was of 10.309 people.

In 2007, according to the official estimates, it would rise with 11.600 inhabitants.

Economic activities

Ngor saw mainly fishing and tourism.
