Ngöndro

The Ngöndro is a practice of the connects Vajrayana Bouddhisme. Literally, that results in “preliminaries”.

Ngöndros are 4 (or 5 according to calculation) practical which follows one another:

  • prostrations and the catch of refuge

  • practice of Dordjé Sempa (skt Vajrasattva)
  • the offering of the Mandala
  • Guru Yoga

Each one of these Ngöndros must be accumulated 111.111 times by the practitioner. As the catch of refuge is recited during prostrations, it is also accumulated. This is why one speaks about 5 Ngöndros.

This whole of practices of Buddhism Tibetan aims to prepare with the later exercises méditatifs Vajrayana. It is in that they are known as préléminaires.
