History

Some key dates:

1897 : Creation of the French company of the electric cables, Berthoud System, Borel and Co.
1912 : Acquisition by the General Company of Electricity (new denomination Cables of Lyon).
1986 : Cables of Lyon becomes Alcatel Câble.
1996 : Fusion of Alcatel Cables with Alcatel.
2000 : Alcatel Cables and Components become Nexans.
2001 : Going public (Euronext-Paris), SBF 120

Trades

Nexans proposes a complete range of cables out of copper and with fiberoptic. Copper cathode close to the base metal to the wire rod of 8 mm, international standard used by all the wire producers and cables in the monde.
Nexans is entirely Master of the line production, since the stage of the copper ore to the end products: cables energy or télécoms. The design of such products requires a great rigor and a perfect control of the existing standards, a strict respect of the international standards established by company doctors. In addition to this control, Nexans also plays an important role in the development of new standards internationaux.
Nexans produces its cables and cabling systems within 82 production sites distributed out of the five continents.
