Newspaper of the debates
The Journal of the debates is a Journal French which appeared of 1789 with 1944 with some changes of title.
History
Created shortly after the first meetings of the General states of 1789 by Gaultier de Biauzat, it contained the official official report word for word of the debates of the National Assembly under the title of Journal of the debates and the decrees . The August 29th 1789, Baudoin acquired of it. The Bertin brothers bought it in 1799.
In the shape of a weekly magazine, then of a daily newspaper, it was directed during nearly forty years by Bertin Elder the and belonged a long time to the Famille Bertin. Under the Empire, he was opposed enough to Napoleon 1 {{er}}, which imposed a new title to him, Journal of the Empire (1805 with 1814). At the time of the First Restoration, the newspaper took the title of Journal of the political debates and literary (1814 with 1864).
Under the Second Restoration, the Journal of the debates belonged to the preserving newspapers but was not reactionary. In front of the attitude of Charles X and its Ultraroyalist entourage , the Journal of the debates evolved, in the years 1827 - 1829, to the liberal opposition . If he did not hesitate to be critical with respect to Charles X and of the Polignac ministry, the newspaper, from its importance even, could not however enter an opposition open to the mode as that which the newspaper led the National .
During the Restoration and the beginning of the Monarchy of July, the Journal of the debates remained more diffused after Constitutional the : in 1830, it drew with: 13000 specimens. It left then the place to the Press of Emile of Girardin then to the Petit Newspaper . Many contributions, in particular those announced below, enriched this newspaper in first half of the 19th century.
During the Occupation, the Journal of the debates continued to appear. It is what was worth to him to be removed with the Libération in 1944.
