News Thousand and One Nights ( New Arabian Nights ) is a collection of Nouvelle S written by Robert Louis Stevenson published in 1882. It is about a first delivery, the second being the Dynamiter ( More New Arabian Nights: To dynamite ) which intervened in 1885.

Synopsis

the Club of the Suicide

History of the young man to the pies with the cream

Prince Florizel of Bohemia and his Master of the Horse, colonel Geraldine, are incognito in a bar when they meet an young man with the intrigant behavior. After having made fuller knowledge, this last introduces them within the Club of the Suicide, whose members in common have the will to put an end to their day but prove to be unable to put their gesture at execution. Adhesion with the club allows randomly, with each meeting of its members, to indicate among them, one “committed suicide” and his “suicidor”. Scandalized by the existence of such a criminal club, Prince Florizel makes it dismantle and charges the brother with colonel Geraldine of the execution of the president of the Club of the Suicide.

History of the doctor and the trunk of Saratoga

Silas Q. Scuddamore finds victim of a machination: he discovers in his bed the corpse of an young man. Fortunately, its neighbor of stage, Doctor No5el, who proves to be a man having knowledge in the criminal medium, offers his assistance to him. He locks up the body in a trunk of Saratoga and provides to Silas an address where he will be able to get rid some. Silas obeys but with the address indicated, it finds Prince Florizel. This last explains to Silas which it is in one of the dens of a large criminal (who is not other than the president of the Club of the Suicide). Silas convinces Prince Florizel of his innocence and with the opening of the trunk, Prince Florizel discovers that the corpse is not other than that of the brother of colonel Geraldine.

a home for the night

One night of the winter 1456 with Paris. The poet François Villon division the heat of a small house leant with the cemetery of Midsummer's Day with some members of the team of robbers of which it does itself left. Two of the rascals is devoted to a game of chance when suddenly one of the two players stabs the other mortally. Everyone flees then in the streets of Paris. Villon only wanders in the icy streets, haunted by the idea to finish with the gibet or to die of cold. It ends up benefitting from the hospitality of a knight with whom an animated discussion begins since Villon is presented in the form of a robber.

the Door of the Lord de Malétroit

Denis de Beaulieu, young damoiseau, returns at his place by the lanes of Castle-Landon in this night of September 1429. Wanting to dodge a patrol of soldiers, it hides in the recess of a door on which it is pressed. This one yields under its weight and it rocks inside the residence of Alain de Malétroit.
