New union (social-liberals)

The Naujoji sąjunga (socialliberalai) ( NS , in Lithuanian, New Union (social liberals)) is a Political party Lithuania N, created in 1998.

It is a party member of International Liberal and European Parti the reforming liberals, democrats and and of sound Groupe ELDR with the the European Parliament.

Its leader is Artūras Paulauskas, president current of the Seimas Lithuania N. He was president by interim of the Lithuania after the dismissal of Rolandas Paksas.

He continues a policy based on a social-liberal ideology which rests on values like individual freedom, the social solidarity, the wellbeing of people and justice.

He held three Congrès of party: in 1998,2000 and 2002.

With the elections of the Seimas of 2000, it gained 28 seats of Député S and its leader, Arturas Paulauskas was elected President of the Seimas. Allied with the liberal Union and other parties, the New Union formed the Lithuanian government. At the summer 2001, a new government coalition was constituted with the Lithuanian social democrat Parti: it is a government of 13 ministers of which 5 are social Liberals - those of the Social security, Education, Justice, Foreign affairs (Antanas Valionis) and Agriculture.

With the elections of the Seimas of 2004, it has nothing any more but 11 seats, including that of the president of Seimas - always electorally allied to the Social democrats within baptized alliance Už darbą Lietuvai! (UDL):

This parliamentary group is chaired by Vaclovas Karbauskis.

It did not obtain elected officials with the the European Parliament in 2004, fault of exceeding the bar of 5% (4,85%).
