New transport of the Parisian press
The Nouvelles Transport of the Parisian Press (NMPP) are a business firm of Messagerie of press.
For 60 years, the main mission of the NMPP has been to take part in the diffusion of the written press like, to maintain the plurality of the press in France and in more than one hundred of country in the world.
1. Structure of the NMPP
The NMPP were founded the April 16th, 1947 in accordance with the Loi Bichet of April 2nd, 1947. This law was born from a political will to guarantee under press a diffusion national, equitable and economically viable. The NMPP are held to 51% by the editors, gathered in 5 co-operatives; and to 49% per Hachette which has a role of operator. The NMPP distribute 85% of the press in France.

3. Distribution of the press
The every day of the year, of the editors customers entrusts their titles of press to NMPP , so that they distribute and distribute their titles on the whole of the national territory and abroad. NMPP convey all the titles of the editors to the sales outlets. The New Transport has a role of intermediary between the editors and the diffusers. Another actor in the distribution system of the press: the agents (approximately 190), they form the link between the Transport and the diffusers of press.
Moreover, software was set up by NMPP for the diffusers, for example the computer software SARRA which, manages stocks of the diffusers, and indicates each day the number of remaining titles in stock. That causes a time-saver for the diffusers and a better inventory control.
More 100 daily newspapers and 3.600 magazines French and foreign like 4.000 products encyclopedic and DVD , are entrusted to the NMPP. On the whole, they distribute all the national daily newspapers and nearly 80% to the magazines and the products multimedia via agents (distribution in France) and to subsidiary companies or local distributers independent (distribution with export).
The NMPP allow all the readers equal acces to the titles in any point of the territory via close to 29.000 sales outlets , and by distributing the French press in more than 100 foreign countries. Moreover, they contribute to the development of the modernization of the sales outlets, with many promotions in order to instigate the sales.
4. CHALLENGE 2010
The situation of the sector of the press difficult, is competed with by the free Internet and newspapers. The NMPP explore all the development appropriatenesses to reverse the current trend of closing of the sales outlets and fall of the volume of businesses. The NMPP presented at the beginning of February 2007, their action plan 2007-2010 proposer four engagements:
1. To create new sales outlets: to pass from 28.000 to 33.000 sales outlets from here to at the end of 2010, by revalorizing the trade of newsagents, by developing the rays presses in large surfaces, by opening points presses in other trade. The opening of 150 stores concepts House of the press and Mag presses, 1500 sales outlets of capillarity and 250 establishments in hypermarkets, supermarkets is envisaged since 2007.
2. To improve the number of titles presented in stores , in order to increase the visibility of the titles and to avoid the linear ones overloaded. In store, the rays of press are extremely charged what does not facilitate the search for a newspaper/magazine for a customer.
3. To revalorize the remuneration of the diffusers of press : in France, the newsagents perceive on average 17% of the price of each number sold against 20% abroad what is considered to be insufficient with the sights of the constraints and carried out work. The goal is to bring remuneration closer to the French diffusers of the European average.
4. To develop the services with the readers: the NMPP wish to support the purchases of impulse, and to give again taste with the readers to move in the trade of press. For that, new tools marketing are installed: a numerical screen presenting the innovations presses, a discount card “Avantagespresse”, an Internet site general public “www.trouverlapresse.com” to facilitate the research of the titles to nearest to at home
