The Nouvelle Royalist Action (NAR) is a French political movement marked by the will to found a Constitutional monarchy in France. Its members, though they are defended some, are sometimes described as Royaliste S of left, because close to certain ideas defended by certain left parties, but they are also recognized in the original Gaullisme. The movement is directed in a collegial way by a management Committee of 12 members and publishes a political semi-monthly, Royaliste , a review of ideas, Cité , as well as a historical review entitled the red Lys .
The NAR wishes the introduction of a constitutional monarchy in France, noting that the current Monarchie S European incarnate within the democratic framework the principles of arbitration and unit of the nation. Its members refute the traditional distinction between monarchy and République. They consider that the monarch is best placed to defend the “community property” ( LMBO publica ) and the general interest, insofar as its capacity is not subjected to the vicissitudes of the election and the oppositions partisanes; they say at the same time the heirs to Jean Bodin (theorist of the 16th century which had entitled République - i.e. in the meaning of the time, the State - major work that it had devoted to monarchy), and of the Monarchiens of 1789 which had written the Déclaration of the Human rights and the Citizen. Original gaullism, with the XX° century, which poses again in the History the question of legitimacy is, for them, come to consolidate the thesis of the democratic monarchists. The NAR also puts forward confidence that Henri of Orleans (1908-1999), “count de Paris” granted to him, in the years 1980 and 1990. At the same time, the rooting of monarchy in the democracy in Spain, then the return on the political scene of former sovereigns or heirs to dynasties in other countries of Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia), seems to consolidate, in certain connections, the ideas of the NAR.
The movement is however today primarily that of a company of thought, by means of its famous conferences debates of the " Wednesdays of NAR" attended by almost all the intellectual families, of the gaullists to the extreme left.
