The new pets (more generally named by the Acronym NAC ) are pet which are of a species much less conventional than the dogs and cats. Nouveaux pets is an expression which was created with the beginning of the year 1980 by Pr Bellangeon (E.N.V.L., founder of the G.E.N.A.C.) to transpose the English expression of " Exotic Farts ". The list of NAC, present in approximately 5% of the hearths in France, is very diversified and sometimes unexpected.

One finds there mainly Mammifère S Rongeur S (Chinchilla S, Souris, Octodon…) or carnivorous, of the Reptile S (Iguana S, Snake S…), of the Arthropod S (scorpion S, Spider S…), of the Amphibian S (merry frogs, Axolotl S…), etc

The Furet is often quoted among the new pets, though its Domestication like animal of work goes back to at least 20 centuries.

These animals are not always regarded as domestic animals .

Their possession will have to thus comply with certain rules which differ according to the countries and international conventions from protection.

the French law recognizes little NAC as being servants and it is advisable to obtain a Certificate of competence for the maintenance of animals of nondomestic species and their breeding.

When they are imported, they are likely to convey Pathogène S to which our Immune system is not prepared, to transmit Parasite S or to infect other animal species and/or the man (Zoonose).
