New York 1997 ( Escape from New York ) is a film of anticipation of John Carpenter, left in 1981.

Synopsis

In 1988, following an explosion of criminality to the the United States, the island of Manhattan became a city-prison. In 1997, whereas the president of the United States goes to an important conference, its plane Air Force One is diverted by terrorists. The president manages to flee while ejecting himself on board a capsule of survival which is crushed in the middle of Manhattan. He is retained at once as an hostage by the prisoners of the island.

The person in charge of safety, Bob Hauk, calls then upon Snake Plissken, a frightening outlaw and gives him 24 hours to save the president in exchange of his grace.
