New School of Boulogne
In France, of 1947 with 1956, the minister of education main road authorized the centers of drive to the methods of education activates (Ceméa) to try out the methods of new education within the framework of an elementary school of the Boulogne-on-Seine. The general objectives of the pedagogical team were:
- confidence in the own resources with each one;
- the respect of the children;
- need for supporting the personal experience and the free choice of the activities in a climate of free expression;
- importance of the medium of life worked out by the school;
- the total direction of education;
- the constant reference to reality.
Except a limitation of the number of children with twenty-five pupils per class, the material conditions were overall equivalent to those of any school of district. At the exit of this school, the pupils had a school course and a completely normal rate of success with the examinations, whereas the educative team gradually had to accommodate more and more children in rupture with the school (under the friendly pressure of the welfare workers of the city and with its defending body since the objective was to carry out an experimentation on a population of pupil “standardized more” possible).
In October 1956, a change of the administrative statute of the personnel put an end to the experiment.
