New Romantic
New Romantic the is the denomination of a musical and vestimentary current associated with the New wave which was created in England at the end of the years 1970. The movement is resulting from the scene Punk and Glam rock'n'roll. The term appeared under the feather of Richard James Burgess, producer of the group Spandau Ballet.
History
The phenomenon was similar to the Glam rock'n'roll years 1970, in the sense that the members of groups associated with the " kind; New Romantiques" effeminate clothing and ostentatious make-up carried. David Bowie was an obvious reference, in particular for his song Fashion, like Brian Eno and Roxy Music. In spite of the bonds of the movement with the glam rock'n'roll, it is characterized some by the strong presence from synthetizers instead of the electric guitars associated with the rock'n'roll from the years 1970, at the point to approach the électropop sometimes. The Japanese pioneers of the électropop, the Yellow Magic Orchestrated, had a significant influence on the movement from this point of view, as well as the German groups Kraftwerk and Can and English Landscape and Ultravox. The boxes at rates/rhythms were largely used by the movement thanks to the experiments of the beaters Richard James Burgess of Landscape, Warren Cann of Ultravox and Rusty Egan of Face.
In the middle of the years 1980, the kind was firmly established in the United States, and certain groups such as Duran Duran or Soft Concealment were an international success. The kind fell in disuse at the end of the years 1980, supplanted by the movement Madchester in England and the independent rock'n'roll in the United States.
A revival “New Romantic” took place during the years 1990. Orlando was the independent group of this mobility called Romo .
Associated Artists with the movement
The independent groups distinctly related to the kind were Spandau Ballet, ABC, Visage, Ultravox, Landscape, Adam & The Ants, and Duran Duran. One can also associate with it many groups of the Années 1980, variously marked by this attitude: Have-ha, Alphaville Dead Gold Alive, Depeche Mode, Erasure, Simple Minds, Software Concealment, The Human League, Eurythmics, has Flock Of Seagulls, Culture Club, Classix Nouveaux, Orchestral Operations in the Dark, Kajagoogoo and Talk Talk.
