New Glarus

New Glarus is a village of the county of Green in the Wisconsin with the E. - U.. Its population was of 2.111 inhabitants in 2000. The village is near New Glarus (Town) (approximately 300 km of Chicago).

It draws its name from Glaris in Suisse from which came its first 150 inhabitants in 1845. Thanks to its Swiss heritage, New Glarus attracts each year a crowd of tourists. This undulating area is called the " small Suisse" from America.

Oktoberfest

Each year at the beginning of October New Glarus organizes Oktoberfest (of German: October celebrates) during which one can attend the manufacture of cheese with old according to the method developed in 1890, of the demonstrations of engraving on wood, Vannerie and preparation of the Choucroute.

In 2006 the festival took place on Sunday, October 8.
