The Party did not obtain a front seat 1971, when Grant Notley becomes the chief of the Néo-Democrats (10% of the voices).Impopularitée of the provincial Liberal due to the bond with the federal Liberal of Trudeau and the rout of the party of the Social Credit put the Party Néo-Democrat on the apron of the opposition. The party became the Official opposition in 1982 with only two seats (18,75% of the voices) with the legislative Assemblée
The years 1980
