New Caprica

New Caprica is a fictitious planet in the Televised series Battlestar Galactica .

The planet was named in reference to Caprica, the principal planet of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. It was fortuitously discovered, by a vessel Rapace to which one had provided coordinates of jump erroneous PRL. The main feature of this planet is that its solar system is drowned in a nebula, whose electromagnetic disturbances return all detections impossible radar. It is thus hidden.

It is a cold and not very hospital planet, whose only narrow band around the equator is livable for the human ones. However, the planet being hidden with the Cylons by nebula, President Gaïus Baltar ordered to install there the fleet of the human survivors who had escaped with the Destruction of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol by Cylons. In spite of the inhospitality of planet, the majority of the survivors were of agreement, wearied food piled up in spaceships since almost a year. Moreover, the permanent installation on this planet was the only argument of Baltar at the time of the presidential elections, which allowed him to be elected.

However, the incapacity of Baltar to control, the hard climate and the lack of material made colonization chaotic, and more and more of survivors started to regret their choice.

380 days after the beginning of colonization, Cylons found the News Caprica and occupied it, letting Baltar direct a government of collaboration. Moreover, the fleet of war in orbit had to flee, leaving the last members of Humanity at the thank you of Cylons.
