New Bedford is a city of the Comté of Bristol-board, Massachusetts, located at approximately 82 km in the south of Boston, 82 km in the South-east of Providence and 19 km in the east of Fall To rivet. With the census of 2000, the population rose with: 93768 people (: 93102 with the census of 2005). It is called “ The Whaling City ” ( the city whale-boat ), because it was about the one of the most important fishing ports to the Baleine.

It is in New Bedford that Moby Dick Hermann Melville begins, and from where Ishmaël, the narrator of the novel, embarks for Nantucket in company of the harpooner Queequeg.
