New African Poets

New African Poets ( NAP ) is a collective of French Rap of Strasbourg.

Biography

Formed in 1988 in the district of the Neuhof, New African Poet is composed of Abd Al Malik, Aïssa, Bilal, Karim, Mohammed and Mustapha. The first years, the group occurs on regional scenes, acquérent little by little a certain notoriety in the medium of rep.

In 1994 their first maximum Too beautiful to be true , produced by Sulee B, appears on High Skills, label just created in the middle of Neuhof. Their project of first album, the lost Art of the freestyle , will not lead because of difficulties of finding an agreement with a distributer and requests for samples refused.

In 1996 the group leaves finally the album the Rabble leaves 1 again disc at High Skills, and distributed by Night & Day. Gift Lab, local producer, and Bilal take care of the majority of instrumental of the disc. It is sold with: 25000 specimens, while appear in the tread the maximum I come from the districts and his Clip.

The recognition of the scene Hip-hop and music industry allow the exit, in 1998, license with BMG, of their second album the End of the world . This one is marked by many participations, such as Wallen (on the title Si far So near ), Rockin' Squat and Radical Kicker of the group Assassin ( Propos on the capacity ), Shurik' NR ( Pas even a smile ) and Freeman ( Bermuda Triangle ) of the group IAM or Faf Larage ( 5 years of respite ).

The group signs thereafter a contract of artist with BMG to leave its third album: Inside us .

Today, NAP is in phase of writing of a fourth album whose exit is envisaged fine 2007.
