Neville Londubat ( Neville Longbottom in English) is a character of the saga Harry Potter, written by J.K. Rowling.
The author makes some for the first time mention in Harry Potter at the school of the wizards, in chapter 6
In the novels
Neville Londubat was born the July 30th 1980, it thus has a day more than Harry. He is the son of two large wizards, Frank and Alice Londubat, known and appreciated Auror S which made party of the first Ordre of the phoenix. But those were tortured by Mangemorts so much so that they lost the reason of it. They are interned for the moment near the permanent patients of the hospital of the wizards: co. Mongoose. It was thus raised by his Grandmother who is her also a witch. Its Great-uncle names Algie and his Enid Great-aunt.A long time, of the doubts weighed on him as for its gifts as regards sorcery, could it be that it was a Cracmol? The day when it revealed its capacities of wizard, while rebounding after a fall of the first stage, its Great-uncle bought him a clamping plate which it named Trevor and which it does not cease losing.
It is a young wizard with the rather thoughtless air which integrates the school of Poudlard at the same time as Harry Potter. The magic Choixpeau the leader towards the house Gryffondor. Neville is rather distracted and has often evil to make magic correctly. It is not student very shining in the majority of the matters. It misses its experiments during potions systematically, in fact, it tests a visceral fear for Professor Rogue who never hesitates to lower it. Its preferred matter is the Botanique; it is very gifted in this field.
Neville has a round face and seems to have a light overweight. It does not correspond to the traditional image of Gryffondor, courageous and valiant. Crushed by the strong personality of his grandmother - who unfavourably compares it with her hero of father - it seems in makes be afraid of the magic. However, Neville has its own form of courage, not hesitating to hold head in other Gryffondor, or to attack Crabbe and Goyle even by knowing that it would not have the top. His/her comrades treat it with respect and take its defense on the occasion; Hermione Granger in particular assistance so necessary.
At the time of a course of Maugrey Fol Eye in the volume 4, it is particularly shocked by the sight of the effects of the unforgivable magic spell Doloris. Indeed, it is this one which made insane his/her parents. Neville regularly visits them to the hospital co. Mongoose during the holidays in company of his/her Grandmother, but they do not recognize it. With the ball of the Tournament of the 3 Wizards, it was accompanied by Ginny Weasley.
In the volume 5 in 1995-96, Neville reveals us that it has great human resources. Having seen dying his/her grandfather, it is able to see the Sombral S. It was one of the first to be joined A.D.. After the escape from Mangemorts which tortured his/her parents, it leaves its shell finally, learns from many fates of Défense against the Forces of the Evil, applying more than whoever to control the fates and the parades. It takes share with the battle of the Département of the Mysteries to save Sirius, in June 1996 against a group of Mangemorts and fights with heroism and determination vis-a-vis these wizards without scruple. Even wounded it never gives up his friends. In the battle, its rod - which belonged to his/her father - is broken by Antonin Dolohov.
In the sixth volume, it receives the congratulations and a new rod of his/her Grandmother. It will be only, apart from Luna Lovegood to answer the call of Hermione vis-a-vis the intrusion of Poudlard by of Mangemorts.
Neville having incipient just like Harry Potter with the month from July 1980 and its parents having defied Voldemort by three times, everything led us to believe that it can be the elected official, the boy whose prophecy spoke about the professor Trelawney. However, Voldemort has, by marking Harry of its own hand, indicated itself that which could destroy it: Harry Potter would be thus apparently that of the two children who can put an end to tyranny Seigneur of Darkness.
In the 7th volume, one learns that it became, with Luna and Ginny, one of the leaders of the revolt of the pupils of Poudlard against the mode of Carrows, and that it was tortured on several occasions. Mangemorts had decided to take his/her grandmother as an hostage in order to control it, but this one sent a auror to the hospital and taken the escape. Since, Neville lives hidden in the room on request, on which it has an exceptional control. His/her grandmother becomes very proud of him and finds it worthy of his/her parents.
It takes an active part in the battle of Poudlard, initially by bombarding Mangemorts of dangerous plants, then while fighting directly against monstrous Fenrir Greyback, its timidity of the commencement of the series having made place with an immense courage. At the end of the 7th volume, whereas everyone believes died Harry, it is the first to be opposed to Voldemort, saying to him that it will join Mangemorts " the day when it will freeze in enfer". A little later it slices the head of the monstrous Nagini snake perched on its Master, destroying the seventh and last horcrux. After the battle, one sees it surrounded admirors: the metamorphosis is complête.
In the epilog, one learns that he became professor de Botanique with Poudlard and that he always sees Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione since Ginny called to his son, James, to transmit their friendship to Neville.
