Neverwinter Nights is a Video game created by Bioware and published by Infogrames in 2002 under the mark Atari. It is about a Roleplay being held in the imaginary world of the forgotten Royaumes, and more precisely in the area of the town of Neverwinter ( Padhiver in French).
Play
The creators of the series of the Baldur' S Spoils, innovate with Neverwinter Nights by proposing on the one hand a video game in 3D and on the other hand a type of play centered on the multijouor who was imagined at the beginning like the prolongation of the version paper of the roleplay Donjons & Dragons .The parts with several are played on modules, kinds of small universes representing a city, an area, but not a complete world as on the persistent universes traditional. Indeed, it was not at the beginning in the idea of Bioware to propose waiters with persistent modules. However, as of its exit, such universes were born.
All the force of the play rests thus on the possibility of playing of the parts between friends at home, or while going on a persistent module.
History
The city of Padhiver is reached by a strange evil which corrodes its people: a terrible epidemic which kills each day of the hundreds of people. The Howling Mort as it is called from now on does not seem to have any remedy. The divine magic as the profane magic remain without effect, and while the city dies its leader makes the decision to quarantine it.You incarnate one of the many volunteers made in reinforcement at Padhiver right before its setting in quarantine. During your search in the search of a remedy against the Howling Mort you will on the occasion to traverse vast regions (mainly the North of Féérune), to solve astute enigmas and of course of pourfendre a plethora of enemies.
Multijoueurs mode
If the adventure is playable alone, the interest of the play rests on a very rich multijouor mode. Indeed, in addition to making it possible to play the adventure with several (in co-operative mode or not), Neverwinter Nights makes it possible one or more players to incarnate the role of Meneur of play. Thus following the example traditional roleplay (on paper), the leader of play has in Neverwinter Nights has a quasi absolute control on the course of the adventure. He can modify the scenario constantly to adapt it to the choices of the players, and can for example vary the total level of difficulty of the play, making the enemies more or less difficult to beat.
The editor: Aurora Toolset
The play has moreover an editor of module provided extremely well: Aurora Toolset. Using the editor one can create places (buildings, forests, etc), to incorporate characters in it (PNJ, creatures, monsters, enemies). The whole being connected by the scenario that the spirit machiavelic of the " Master of Donjon" will have imagined. The english language version is available since June 2002. Since, two extensions left, under the name of Shadows off Undrentide and Hordes off the Underdark . Beyond the interest of the campaigns a player , these extensions add elements usable by Aurora Toolset.
A third extension, only made up of contributions of the community of the players was compiled and distributed by Bioware. This third extension called STOCK for Community Expansion Pack is free. One second version of this extension is in preparation for the summer 2006.
