Nevado Coropuna
The Nevado Coropuna is a Stratovolcan Peru.
It is located in the province of Unión, Département of Arequipa in the south of the country and fact part of the central volcanic Zone of the Andes. It culminates with 6.377 meters and is crowned by a icecap which goes down up to 5.200 meters from altitude. Its base is located between 4350 and 4400 meters of altitude.
The icecap decreased by 54% between 1958 and 2006, according to a study, and its disappearance in the long term could deprive of water a population of 50.000 inhabitants.
