Nevado

The Nevado is small a Stratovolcan which one currently regards as extinct, who is at the border between IIIe area Chile enne of Atacama and the province Argentine of Catamarca (Département of Tinogasta). It is high of 6  000 meters.

Situation

It is about a volcanic small apparatus which is drawn up halfway between the El Fraile in the east (6  068 meters) and the volcano El Muerto in the west (6  488 meters), both distant of more or less five kilometers. With 15 kilometers in the east of the top, is the Nevado Incahuasi (6  610 m).

With 15 kilometers in south-west one can see the colossus Nevados Ojos del Salado (6  879 m), as well as the Medusa (6  120 m).

In south-east, near with a few five kilometers is the active volcano Negro (5  373 m), and further the volcanos Rojo (4nbsp; 920 Mr.) and Ojo of mow Lozas .

In the North-East, with more or less twenty-five kilometers the San Francisco (6  draws up; 016 meters).

In north, with a score of kilometers is the Chilean Laguna Verde, and with beyond the Falso Azufre (5  906 meters), distant of 35 kilometers. Finally with about fifteen kilometers in the south-south-west, one finds the Gendarme Argentino I (5  950 Mr.) and Gendarme Argentino II (6  014 Mr.).

The Nevado volcano belongs to the northern sector of the short volcanic chain of the zone of the 27 degrees of southern latitude, chains of about fifty kilometers length, directed East-West along the argentino-Chilean border and sheltering several of the highest volcanos of the ground.

It belongs to the volcanos close to the collar to the Paso to San Francisco. Its reduced size of " seulement" 6  000 meters made that it is very little known, especially vis-a-vis the height and with the mass some of its powerful neighbors.
