Neufchâtel is a vast district of the town of Quebec integrated with fusions of 2002 in the districts of the High-Saint-Charles (Of Châtels) and Of the Rivers (Neufchâtel-Is). It is a district mainly with residential vocation. It is located at the north of the town of Quebec in the south of Loretteville. Neufchâtel forms part with this one of the parish Saint-Ambroise.

History

At its beginnings, Neufchâtel takes the name of Saint-Ambroise-of-the-Young person-Lorette. The first inhabitants of the parish are Huron which settle at the end it there 17th century after having left their establishments with Lorette (today, Old-Lorette the). It is besides from there that the name comes from Young person-Lorette . In 1913, the northern part of the parish is detached and become Loretteville, the southern part preserves the name of Saint-Ambroise until 1963 when it changes its name for Neufchâtel. Neufchâtel is integrated in the town of Quebec in 1971. During fusions of 2002, it is integrated in the districts of the High-Saint-Charles and the Rivers.

At its beginnings, Neufchâtel saw mainly Agriculture and is populated little. What explains the small houses of countryside which are still in the landscape today but which is also outdistanced only front. Neufchâtel urbanized and is today, a vast residential zone.

The river Saint-Charles

The Rivière Saint-Charles is one of the only river which passes by Neufchâtel. It makes it possible to fix the limit between the district Of the Rivers and the district of the High-St-Charles. It limits Neufchâtel-Is and Of Châtels
