Neuchâtelois

The Patois neuchâtelois is a Dialecte of the language francoprovençale, one of the three traditional languages of space Gallo-novel, with the Occitan with the South, and the French (Langue of oil, with its dialects) in North. The Canton of Neuchâtel is in extreme cases north-eastern of the francoprovençal, which includes/understands all the French-speaking Switzerland (except the Canton of the Jura), part of the French Jura, the Lyonese, Drill it, the Savoy and the Vallée of Aoste.

Like all the dialects, the speech francoprovençal of Neuchâtel was distinguished slightly from a village, from one valley to another, without that raising difficulties for mutual comprehension.

The last Locuteur S of the francoprovençal neuchâtelois disappeared in the years 1920. Not very front, conscious of its imminent disappearance, a Intellectual group of S and patoisants neuchâtelois tested " to save the meubles" , by publishing a memory volume, containing all the texts in patois neuchâtelois which they had been able to gather. This volume was published in Neuchâtel in 1895; it is in all the good libraries of the canton.
