Neußerling

Neußerling is a small village of High-Austria, located at 21 km of Linz, which is in the area of the “Mühlviertel”. From the administrative point of view, Neußerling belongs to the district of Urfahr-Umgebung and the commune of Herzogsdorf.

Neußerling counts approximately 400 inhabitants. But when the neighborhoods are included, approximately the 900 inhabitants are reached.

Since 1920 Neußerling has even its own elementary school.

History

The village of Neußerling was populated by the Slaves and later, at the 7th century, by Marcomans and Quades.

Until 1875, Neußerling and its neighborhoods formed only one commune (Stamering). But as from this year, Neußerling became a village depend on the commune of Herzogsdorf and attached to the parish of Gramastetten.

The name Neußerling

The current name Neußerling developed of Neusolting (1264) which was transformed then into Neuzzedling (1278) and later into Neuzettling (> Na sedlnik = in saddle).

Monuments Culture

Among the monuments and places impossible to circumvent of Neußerling, the visitor will be able to discover the basilica Marienkirche, built in 1948, which has 10 modern stained glasses, designed by the artist Silvia Kropfreiter, the famous one restoring “Mitten in der Welt” (In the center of the world) and the Biotope.

Each year in spring, celebrates it festival of music “Noppenair” proceeds close to Neußerling.
