Netzarim

Netzarim was a Israeli Colonie founded in 1984. In the beginning it was about a Kibboutz which became a few years after a village. The 60 families were often introduced by the media like extremely radical monks. The colony was the last of the Gaza Strip to being evacuated in August 2005 in accordance with the Disengagement plan of the occupied territories.

The first attack of the second intifada took place with Netzarim on September 27th, 2000.

Netzarim was finally evacuated in calm on August 2nd, 2005. This fine withdrawal put at 38 years of Israeli presence in the Gaza Strip.

When the Palestinians occupied the village, the Synagog was burned.
