The Network To leave the nuclear power is a French association Antinucléaire created in 1997 following the closing of the experimental reactor Super-Phenix.
Presentation
In July 2007, the network federates 800 associations of which national associations (the Amis of the Earth - France, etc) or local (Stop Golfech, Tchernoblaye, Médiane, etc), trade unions (the Peasant confederation, SUD Rail, etc) and political parties (the Greens, LCR, etc). Greenpeace is member of the Network To leave the nuclear power until 2007. According to its leaders, the network gathers more 17 000 individuals and is financed exclusively thanks to the gift S and with the contributions of its members. The charter of the network Sortir the nuclear power is given like objective to obtain the closing of the engines under operation, and the abandonment of the projects of reprocessing of nuclear fuel, of Stockage of the radioactive waste in deep geological layer and of renewal of the French nuclear capacity. This charter puts forward the “dangers of the nuclear die” (Nuclear accidents, Nuclear proliferation, costs and “risk for the public health”). She thus preaches to leave the civilian nuclear thanks to an energy policy which would support in particular the savings in electricity and the development other means energy production based on the renewable energies (wind, solar, wood,…) or on the provisional recourse to less harmful techniques supposed for the Environment (central with the gas, Cogénération,…).
History
Since the beginning of the French nuclear program, several national coordinations Antinucléaire S were born. They are often transitory and of circumstance, as for the gathering of Bugey in 1971, or moreover long life, like the Antinuclear National coordination (CNAN) of 1976 to 1984. The CNAN is dissolved after the camp of the peace of 4000 antinuclear and antimilitarists with Malville, a certain number of organizers then join the Greens under the impulse of Yves Cochet, while others militate in their local groups. (S! lence, February 1995)April 9th, 1994, a Malville-Matignon walk against Super-Phenix joins together the Européens against Super-Phenix , the Comité Malville, Contratom (Swiss), FRAPNA, Greenpeace, GSIEN and WWF and more than 250 associations of France, of Switzerland, of Italy and Germany.
It is from 1995 that starts to structure the Réseau To leave the Nuclear power , on the initiative of the Européens against Super-Phenix . In 1997, the first antinuclear general meeting of national coordination is held in Agen and writes the charter of the Network To leave the Nuclear power. Are present at this assembly about thirty people representatives: Europeans against Super-Phenix, the forum Plutonium, the National coordination of the collectives against the hiding of the radioactive waste, Greenpeace, the Committee Malville, Stop Golfech, the Friendly of the Earth, the committee Stop Civaux, FRAPNA, the Greens, LCR,… the charter which was established rests on the sentence: “We want a decision immediate of exit of the nuclear power”. The Committee Stop Nogent refuses to sign this charter which does not call with an immediate left the nuclear power , and thus did not join the Network.
In 1998, the Network To leave the nuclear power, which federates at the time approximately a hundred and twenty groups, launches its first countryside against the construction of laboratories of hiding of the radioactive waste; the second against the electric heating, and of many other campaigns will follow.
From 2006 to 2007, the Network To leave the nuclear power is member of the collective Alliance for the planet which it leaves because of dissensions concerning the " Grenelle of the environnement" announced for the autumn 2007 by the President of the Republic. This last having clearly announced that the nuclear power would not be called into question, the Network " To leave the nucléaire" consider it impossible to take part under these conditions with the " Grenelle of the environnement".
Activities
The actions of the network take the form of communication on the topic of the nuclear power and of its dangers (Manifestation S, organization of debates, publication of the review quarterly Sortir the nuclear power, realization of booklets, installation of Internet sites, installation of an information center, as well as petitions and Lobbying near the elected officials, of the communities, the trade unions, associations.
Criticisms
According to a report/ratio of the Ministry for the Economy, Finances and Industry, the network Sortir the nuclear power refuses by principle any dialog on the nuclear power. The Network “To leave the nuclear power” is also criticized by more radical actors of the antinuclear movement, who reproach him for being too much “soft”, thus the Committee Nogent Stop refuses to sign the charter of the network which does not call at an immediate exit of the nuclear power.
