NetPositive

NetPositive (also called in summary Net+ ) is the Navigateur Web developed by Be in order to equip its operating system BeOS with a navigator native Web.

Its lightness (almost instantaneous launching and anecdotic memory use), its purified interface and the fact that he was the only graphic Web navigator of the platform during several years made its success.

Characteristics

NetPositive is a navigator whom one can regard as minimalist in his support of Web technologies. It supports obviously HTML, but not the style sheets CS or the JavaScript. Its official last version is the 2.2.2 and version 3.0 was to offer a beginning of support of the Javascript, but it forever exceeded the stage of the beta following the Be closing.

NetPositive also uses the technology of BeOS replicant , which makes it possible any BeOS application to take on board a Web navigator, which made besides some applications as BeHappy for the reading of the documentation of the Application program interface who is with format HTML or Email-It for the reading of the emails containing pages HTML.

Use

Still used by certain users of BeOS, it is used mainly with posting of cards as documentation in HTML, leaving the good share to Firefox for navigation Internet.

Error messages

The errors 404 announcing that a URL seized Web could not be found were announced by NetPositive followed by a Haïku (small a poem Japan board). It is in remembering that the free version of BeOS was named Haïku.
