Nephew
Nephew is a group of Rock Danish whose origin goes up in 1996 with Århus. It is in this country one of, if not groups it Rock/Metal most known, in company of oldest the Disneyland After Dark (D.A.D) , even if it profits only from one very parsimonious retransmission to the international scales compared to the latter.
Their music, mixes heavy guitars to which they do not hesitate to give electronic sonorities punk and sounds, sometimes could be compared, according to the pieces and the albums, with the style of Rammstein. Some describe even the group like a modern version of typical sonorities of Depeche Mode, to which one would have added energy that the artists of the Eighties did not have as a practice to insert in their musics.
History of the group
The history of Nephew begins in 1996 by the meeting from 4 students in musicology at the University from Århus. All share a common passion of the music pop/melody Rock. In 1997, hardly set up, the group takes part in the Danish Championships of Rock'n'roll, and carries out the exploit to reach the semi-finals. Consequently the phase begins from recording of a certain number of demonstrations which are sent to the musical reviews like with the various surrounding labels. If the reception of the demonstrations were enthusiastic near the musical reviews, no label followed this tendency by signing a contract of édition. In 1998, the bass player Jonas Juul Jeppesen leaves the group, replaced by Kasper Toustrup. It is, to date, the only modification which the formation knew since its débuts. In 2000 the career of the group takes abrupt and illusory blow of accelerator with the realization of its first album, '' Swimming Time '', which is published by a small label of their town of Århus, Martian Records. Very quickly the musical critics and the public tear off the album, so much so that

- the leader, Simon Kvamm, is a real icon. On the one hand for its voice, which one can sometimes compare to that of Till Lindemann (Rammstein) or even in certain moments with that of Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), on the other hand for its political commitment that it retransmet largely in its songs. Indeed Simon Kvamm is an enthusiastic opponent with the government of Anders Fogh Rasmussen, current Prime Minister Danish and member of the Danish Liberal party. He does not deprive himself to announce it in his songs, just as he posts a mistrust with respect to the the United States or of the France of Jacques Chirac (cf version in English of In Wannabe Darth Vader ). This political opposition can sometimes be testified in a very virulent way, as for example in the Danish version of In Wannabe Darth Vader where Kvamm sings: “ I Bendt Bendtsens røv sidder in hånd FRA Fogh ”, which means more or less “In the bottom of Bendt Bendtsen is the hand of Fogh”.

Specificities

Nephew constitutes an exception in the sense that the group mixes within its songs Danish and English. Within their songs a piece of Danish sentence can be continued in English and vice versa. This situation however seems to proceed only of the evolution of the group. Indeed after beginnings primarily even exclusively devoted to English in their first album Swimming Time , the group operated a moult while inserting of Danish in USADSB before reducing the share of English in the texts to a ratio just significant in Interkom Kom Ind .
Rewards obtained by the group
