Neophema chrysostoma

The Parakeet with gold mouth or Parakeet vénuste or Perruche with blue wings ( Neophema chrysostoma ) is a species of endemic Perruche of Tasmanie, center of the southernmost Australia and interior of the grounds of the south of the Western Australia.

Description

Very near to the elegant Parakeet ( Neophema elegans ), it is characterized some by its size, bordering 20 cm length, by a very clear black coloring on the wings, by the absence of blue on the level of the shoulders (color present at the level of the edge of the wings), by a yellow coloring on the belly more marked and going up on the chest and by a black and blue frontal bar.

Habitat

The Parakeet with blue wings populates the secondary forests as well as savannas, the thickets and the arid zones.

Behavior

Very sociable, it frequently joins the elegant Parakeet to set up important groups.

Reproduction

This species reproduces October at January. Often, of the couples nest in colonies.

Captivity

This bird is not very widespread in the breedings. It reproduced there however regularly.
