Nennius

Nennius , historian who lived at the beginning of the 9th century.

He wrote a history of his country which resembles so much that of Gildas Wise the, that one frequently took them for a single author; the history of Nennius extends until the 8th century.

Author or Breton compiler (island of Brittany) of the matter contained in the manuscript Historia Brittonum . In the foreword he declares disciple of the monk Elbodug . One can think that it was itself monk.

The work providing a chronology of 447 to 954 one can affirm that he lived at the 10th century and probably with the Wales.

There exists in the Bibliothèque Cottonienne British natural history museum a Latin manuscript of this work, of which some parts were printed.
