History
Nemours, which owes its name in the vicinity of the forest (
nemus ), does not go up beyond the 12th century. It was initially a seigniory. It was acquired by Louis IX, set up in duchy-meadow by Charles VI (
1404), then exchanged with Charles III Noble the, king of Navarre; returned to the crown in 1425, it was yielded by Louis XI to Jacques of Armagnac, then confiscated (1477); was returned to Louis of Armagnac, which perishes in 1503; was given by Louis XII to his nephew Gaston de Foix in exchange of the Comté of Narbonne (1507), then by François Ier with a son of Laurent Splendid the, Julien de Médicis, husband of his aunt Philiberte of Savoy (1515); remained during 150 years in the Maison of Savoy; finally échut in 1666 with Louis XIV, which made of it gift with Philippe of Orleans, his/her brother, whose posterity kept it until 1789. The title of duke of Nemours is carried by 2nd wire of king Louis-Philippe.
Henri III concludes in Nemours with the Members of a league, the July 7th 1585, a treated by which he recognized the Ligue, revoked the edicts of tolerance and committed themselves expelling all the Calvinistes.

Nemours is one of the main cities crossed by the national 7, mythical the Blue Route . In the Sixty, it is one of the first stages cities, for the Parisian holiday makers. Located at kilometer 76, one put, at the time, more than 2 hours to cross the city because of many tricolor fires.
