The nématomorphes ( Nematomorpha ) are towards not-segmented with the cylindrical body. They are extremely long and fine. Their head is of the same width than the body. They measure on average from 0.5 to 2.5 mms in diameter for 10 to 70 cm length, the female being longer than the male. They are as called Gordian because of the impression as they give to make nodes complicated with their body.
One meets nématomorphes in all the aqueous environments: wet fresh water, salt water, grounds. The adults have a free life while the Larves are systematically parasitic of a Arthropode. The larva returns in the body cavity of the host using a horn provided with hooks. It develops to with it and, once the metamorphosis carried out, a vermiform adult ends up leaving. In the case of a terrestrial host the larva can arrive, by a still unknown means, to handle it to make it join a water point.
