Nelly Marez-Darley
Nelly Marez-Darley (1906 - 2001) is a French painter of the news École of Paris of which nonfigurative work, in the Années 1950 and 1960, reintroduced thereafter elements of figuration.
Biography
Nelly Marez is born the 1906 with Valencian. Very young person, painting is for it a vocation, " the great adventure of its vie". After having attended the School of the Art schools of its birthplace, as from 1924, it enters to the Ecole of the Art schools of Paris in 1928. She marries Georges Darley in 1932. From 1932 to 1935 it remains with the Lebanon where is born his/her Bernard son in 1935. During this stay, it paints and opens an academy of painting, exhibitor with Beirut in 1934 and, at the time of voyages in Syria and Palestine, with Jerusalem in 1935. Of return to Paris it exposes to it in 1938.From 1940 Nelly Marez-Darley settles with Algiers, where it cotoie the intellectual medium dominated by Albert Camus and Max-pol. Fouchet as well as the sculptor Jean Peyrissac. In 1944, it exposes in Oran, the gallery “Hill” of Robert Martin and in Algiers, prefaced by Jean Alazard, conservative of the museum. Only woman painter with the armies, it is sent to Baden-Baden for “artistic documentation” after the German capitulation.
Of return to Paris in 1945, installed street Countryside-First, Nelly Marez-Darley bind with Alix Ghillain, French translator of the “Capital” of Karl Marx, the philosopher Bernard Groethuysen, Clara Malraux, the writers Francis Ponge and Jean Tardieu, the sculptors Simone Boisecq and Karl-Jean Longuet. She exposes in 1946 in Paris. The Breteau gallery presents its works, from now on nonfigurative into 1949 prefaced by Clara Malraux. From 1950 to 1953 works with the Morocco and exposes to Casablanca.
Nelly Marez-Darley returns definitively to Paris in 1954. She becomes acquainted with Leon Zack and of the sculptor Etienne Hajdu, réguli takes part! rement to the Living room of New Realities and exposes once again Breteau gallery in 1954. At the end of the Années 1960 it approaches the Collage S, then in the following decade, the hanging-assemblies. Around 1970 the figure reappears in its paintings, regularly exposed in the Parisian galleries. The gallery Callu Merite presents thereafter its works into 1986,1988 and 1998, while a homage is paid to him to the Arts center of Valencians like to the Algerian Arts center in 1990. A retrospective exposure takes place in 1999 with the castle of Gréoux-the-Baths. It will still expose to Grenoble, Sausset-the-Pines, Toulouse, and becomes a permanent painter of the Mischkind gallery of Lille and gallery of Wantiers of Valencians. In 2002, a retrospective of its work takes place with the Taylor Foundation in Paris. 2007, exposure to Valencians " The battle of the forms, the language of the matters of the 26.10 to the 1.12.07.
Work
Its work opens under the sign of reality. Portraits, scenes intimists, objects, landscapes, it is a question at the beginning of exhausting the topics come from a familiar world.
