Nelly Furtado

Nelly Kim Furtado (born the December 2nd 1978 with Victoria, Canada) is a Chanteuse of pop music, also composer-songwriter. Of Portuguese origin , it also has Canadian nationality .

Biography

Nelly Furtado, was born the December 2nd 1978 with Victoria (capital of the Colombia-British to the Canada) Portuguese parents originating in São Miguel, island of the the Azores. They called it Nelly Kim in reference to the Russian champion of gymnastics Nellie Kim which gained 5 gold medals (3 in 1976 and 2 in 1980) and 1 of money (in 1976) to the Olympic Games.

It has a brother and a sister.

She learned how to play of the Trombone, the Guitare and the Ukulélé at the nine years age and of the Synthétiseur at 11 years. Impassioned music as of its more young age, it knows as of the 4 years age that it wants to become singer. Nelly sang with his/her mother in a Chorale, especially at the time of the national festival of the Portugal.

At the time of a visit in Toronto, during the summer, it met Tallis Newkirk, member of the group of Hip hop " Lime pits off Fascination" and contributed to their album Join the Ranks (1996) on the title Waitin' 4 The Streets . After the completion of studies in Douglas Mount Secondary School in 1996, it leaves for Toronto where it finally formed with Newkirk the duet/Nelstar group, in 1997. Finally, it returned to work with them and signed a contract in 1999 with DreamWorks Records.

Nelly Furtado continued to collaborate with Eaton and West, which have coproduit its album, Whoa, Nelly! , left in October 2000. In 2005, it is taken by Geffen Records because DreamWorks Records closes definitively.

Loose (2006)

The music of Furtado is also influenced by its place of residence, Toronto, which is for it the most multicultural city of the whole world and the place where it can have access to all the cultures . Furtado did not await the appearance of Internet to include/understand the world of the music, it started to listen to music at the five years age and still continues to discover new kinds.

I always knew that there were new musical genres to discover. For me, it is like a metaphor of the life.
