Neil Poulton
Neil Poulton (1963-) is a designer, born in 1963 in Thurso in Scotland and based with Paris, France.
It creates and develops intended products with the mass production which were worth many international prices of design to him.
Poulton is especially recognized for its creations in the fields of lighting and high technology. It is closely related to the marks LaCie, Artemide, Megalit, Atelier Sedap and Danese Milano.
He lives and works with Paris since 1992.
Biography
Poulton obtained Bachelor off Science in industrial design at the University of Napier with Edinburgh in 1985. In 1988, it obtains Masters in Design of the Domus Academy of Milan, Italy, under the direction the Italian Architecte Andrea Branzi and of the designer Alberto Meda. Poulton is distinguished for the first time in 1989, by the creation of the “growing old pens”, of the “alive” plastic pens whose color and form change with the use. Its “ageing pens” is then exposed to the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, with the National center of art and culture Georges-Pompidou in Paris and with the Gallery Axis of Tokyo.In 2007, the National center of art and culture Georges-Pompidou acquires various objects drawn by Poulton for its permanent collections.
Price
Neil Poulton obtained many prices including two “Stars of Observeur of the Design 2007” for Hard drives drawn for the French manufacturer of peripherals for computers LaCie and the “Best off the Best Dot Design Award 2006” for the lamp Talak of the manufacturer of luminaries Artemide.In 2007, the French Institute of the Design decreed Janus of Industry with Neil Poulton for its Firewire Speakers published by LaCie. Poulton gained the same price in 1999 for the lighting system Surf , creates for Artemide.
