Neil Diamond

Neil Diamond (born in 1941 with Brooklyn, New York) is an author, type-setter, interprets and actor.

Biography

In 1966 and 1967: he is success with " Solitary Man" (begun again by Johnny Cash in 2000) " Cherry, Cherry" , " Girl, You' L Be has Woman Soon" , (begun again by Is urgent Overkill B.O of the film Pulp Fiction), " Kentucky Woman" (begun again by Deep Purple) and with " I' m has Believer" written for The Monkees (more recently heard in the B.O of the film Shrek) or finally " Red Red Wine" (begun again by UB40).

1968: it signs in four years for MCA of many tubes; " And the Fatty Won' T Pay No Mind" , " Brother Love' S Dolly Salvation Show" , " Sweet Caroline" , " Holly Holy" , " Cracklin' Rosie" , " I Am… I' Said" , " Song Sung Blue" , " Play Me" , titles taken again amongst other things by Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, U2, Serge LAMA or Joe Dassin.

1972: the double album, " Hot August Night" obtains a considerable success by taking again its most outstanding titles in versions live often even more convincing than those carried out in studio. This closed disc the first period of its career. Simultaneously with the disc, it takes a lead in scene like an effective show man.

1973: Columbia Records, its new recording company (with which, it signs, more the big contract discographic ever concluded at that time) carries out the B.O of the film " Jonathan Livingston Seagull" whose Neil Diamond is the author, type-setter, interprets and who will allow him to obtain a world success as well as a Grammy Award.

1976: the concept album " Beautiful Noise" is realized by Robbie Robertson (The Band). The exit of this new opus gives the opportunity to Neil Diamond to set out again in round to the U.S.A but also in Europe and Australia. Consequently and until today, he undertakes world tours all both or three years always with as much of success.

He takes part in the concert filmed " The Last Waltz".

Of 1977 with 1982: Neil Diamond directs her career towards the casinos of Las Vegas (where it occurs for the first time in 1976). Its repertory grows rich by collaborations with Gilbert Bécaud, Burt Bacharach, Richard Bennett, David Foster, Michel Legrand, Carole Bayer Sager or Stevie Wonder.

Its discs always know a big hit thanks to titles such as " Désirée" , " you gift' T bring me flowers" in duet with Barbra Streisand, " hearthlight" , " forever in blue jeans" , " september morn " and particularly with " coil one the rocks" , " america " and " hello again" , three songs extracted the B.O of the film The Jazz Singer (left in 1980) in which he plays the main role. This film will not however obtain a great success the album of the same name will be placed at the signal of the best sales at the United States and in the world.

Of 1983 with 2000: it connects the discs (all, at least Disque of gold) the rounds and the show TV. But, installed in a certain comfort, no album during this period marks durably. However let us note the album " Tennessee moon" (1996) realized with sizes of the country. However the popularity of Neil Diamond remains important as the success of its world tours shows it.

Since 2000: eager to return to its basic, it leaves in 2001 an album: " Three Chord Opera" that it entirely composes and writes (what had not arrived to him since 1976).

In 2003: like meaning the one period end, Neil Diamond and Columbia records build a box " Stages" of 5 CD, audio collecting in a concert with Vegas and various extracts live (1970 to 2002), plus 1 DVD in a concert of the round 2002.

It remakes speech of him in 2005 for its divorce which costs him 150 million dollars but especially its new album " 12 Songs" realized by the producer Rick Rubin. It composes and writes entirely this album and is accompanied him even with the guitar on very personal texts. Criticism is unanimous to applaud this return to the sources. In order to finalize the project Columbia records brings out the album in 2006, out of box 2 CD comprising the decorated original album of alternate versions and models.

Forsaking, temporarily the rounds, Neil Diamond works on a new album, produced by Rick Rubin for the beginning of the year 2008. This new opus will be followed by a world tour.

To date it sold more than 120 million discs.
