Geography

The commune of Neighbors-the-Bretonneux is located in the east of the Yvelines, with approximately ten kilometers in the south-west of Versailles. Neighbors-the-Bretonneux constitutes with six other communes (Elancourt, the Canopy, Magny-the-Hamlets, Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Trappes Yvelines and Guyancourt) the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines, Ville of art and history. The Trade-union Committee of the Community of Agglomeration is composed representatives elected by the Municipal councils of the 7 communes. in the perimeter of the new city of Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.

The communal territory occupies the southern edge of a plate located between 160 and 170 meters of altitude between two steepsided valleys, that of the Bièvre in north and that of the Mérantaise (affluent of the Yvette) in the south. Strongly urbanized, at approximately 90%, this territory a share of rural territory in the form of wood preserves, of which a small portion of the national forest of Port-Royal in the south-west of the commune.

The communes bordering are Guyancourt in the North-East, Magny-the-Hamlets in the south and Montigny-le-Bretonneux in the North-West.

The communications are ensured by two principal road axes, the directed secondary road 36 East-West and the secondary road 91 North-South directed, all two mainly arranged in urban avenues with 2 X 2 ways.

The closest stations are that of Trappes and that of Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines to Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

History

Maurice Laure starts at the beginning of its first mandate a vast policy of urbanization within the framework of the new cities. One owes him in particular the construction of the principal districts of the city like Chamfleury and Port-Royal, as well as the opening of several centers of culture and leisures as the center Alfred de Vigny (from now on destroyed following a fire) or the sporting center of the pyramids, of which some were just open after its death, by his successor.

Church Our-Lady-of-the-Nativity: building in Grinding dating from XVIe century. Very damaged at the time of the combat of 1944, the bell-tower was rebuilt in 1944.

Castle of Frossardière: on the site of a castle of the XVIIe destroyed century, the current manor dates from the beginning of the XIXe century and was altered in the medium towards 1850 the needs of the baron François Xavier Frossard. It is property of the ADOSSPP today (Association for the Development of Social Works of the Firemen of Paris). The building is not classified.
Another castle of initial construction of the XVIIe century and increased in the middle of the XIXe century is in the commune and is with the abandonment.

Neighbors-the-Bretonneux, constitutes with six other communes (Montigny-le-Bretonneux, the Canopy, Magny-the-Hamlets, Trappes, Guyancourt and Elancourt) the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines, Ville of art and history. The Trade-union Committee of the Community of Agglomeration is composed representatives elected by the Municipal councils of the 7 communes.

The Community of Agglomeration manages economic development, the information system strategic plan of transport, the local program of the habitat, the Politique of the city and the Community equipment of interest like the Theater of Saint Quentin in Yvelines or the network of the Media libraries. It manages also the large infrastructures: roadway system, networks and green areas.

The City ensures the management of the equipment and the organization of the services set up to meet the needs for the inhabitants, of teaching to the roadway system, while passing by early childhood, the sport, the culture, social protection…

The president of the Communauté of agglomeration is Robert Cadalbert (PS), in addition Assistant Maire of Guyancourt.
