Neguac

Neguac or Néguac - in its francized C-W communication, used usually in the area -, is a village of the Comté of Northumberland in the North-East of the New Brunswick to the Canada. With the Canadian census of 2001, the village counted 1697 inhabitants.

Description

The village of Neguac, occupies the southern end of the acadian Péninsule and skirts the gulf of the St. Lawrence on a distance of 9 km. The majority of the dwellings are built along the segment of the road 11 which connects Tracadie-Sheila, to about thirty km in north, in Miramichi, located at 44 km in the south.

Located between the territory indigenous of Burnt Church and the anglophone village of Tabusintac, the village is proud of its cultural heritage acadian, divided by 92% of its population. The village was proclaimed “ Capitale of Savoy ”, in recognition of the one of its founders families.

Administration

The Maire is Richard Breault and the city council men are Emile Basque, Ovide Breau, Marcel Cyr, Lévis Savoy and Roger Ward Jr.

Culture

The village has a multipurpose room built recently. The Richard-Denys Theater accommodates local productions and some rounds of established artists.

The local school, the Center the Fountain , accommodates the pupils of the Maternelle at the 12th year. In 2005 - 2006, the school has a manpower of 568 pupils.
