Necromunda
Necromunda is a Jeu of figurines. Simulating combat in urban environment in a futuristic universe, it is included in the category of the Wargame S. Créé by Games Workshop in 1996, it is different from the majority of the other plays by the low number of involved figurines. The play occurs in the universe from Warhammer 40,000.
History
The play at the beginning named confrontation and was published via the British edition of the magazine White Dwarf. The background was developed by Nigel Stillman in collaboration with Bryan Ansell. It was then reactualized is sold under the name of Necromunda. The supplement Outlanders left one month after its exit.
In 2003 left a new version Necromunda, taking again to 98% the old rules while bringing some innovations. This one also made it possible to remake the design of the book of rules, and to make it more mature. It is distrituée free with format pdf and is updated regularly by volunteers and testers of the official forum of Specialist Games. An not-official translation in French was distributed a time by the site Necromunda Reference! , in June 2006, Games Workshop took advantage of its rights, which led to the closing of the site.
Play
Context
The action occurs on a planet emptied from any natural wealth, covered with sand and Ci and there with chemical lakes. On this planet, civilization with had, to survive, build enormous cities hives exceeding of the clouds of pollution which surrounds it.It is in the immense undergrounds of these cities, whose environment resembles that of a Far West futuristic, that the play occurs.
The players are each one with the head of a band of little scoundrels who to survive must fight battle against their rivals or attack convoys of goods.
Principles of play
Necromunda takes again the rules of combat of Warhammer 40.000 , slightly adapted for combat of skirmishes. The principal difference is in the play in shift: each player there directs a gang of combatants and delivers a series of skirmishes isolated against the gangs from the other players. A system of experiment inspired of Blood Bowl makes it possible to the surviving combatants to become more powerful with the wire of the parts. Each gang controls several grounds which it exploits to be able to buy of the equipment and to recruit new combatants.
The action of Necromunda
The action of Necromunda proceeds in the Under-World larger hive of planet, the Ruche Primus .
The Under-World is one of the lower levels of the city-hive. It is a dilapidated zone where only anarchy reigns. The tangle of the domes, the tunnels and various constructions in an atmosphere sinks and polluted makes it all the more inhospitable and dangerous.
The player is thus with the head of a gang pertaining to the one of the 6 Houses of the City-Hive :

the house Orlock is an industrial power. The gangs which of it result have a relatively neutral appearance.
- the house Goliath develops the force above all. Its gangers is extremely muscular men and leather vêtus.
- the house Escher is especially made up women. They have an aggressive look.
- the house Van Saar is specialized in high technology. The gangers of this house carry futuristic uniforms.
- the house Delaque develops discretion and espionage. Its gangers carries all of impermeable and the safety goggles.
- the house Cawdor follows the sect of the redemptionists. Its members have the masked face and of medieval clothing.
A gang is composed of a Chef of gang , of Gangers , Balaises and Kids having each one their characteristics being able to be improved with the wire of the parts.
One also finds characters independent, mercenaries, who adopt the cause of highest offerer.

Composition of the gangs
Each gang comprises various types of combatants.
- the Chief of gang: the chief of gang is that which have the most important characteristics and that which brings a no-claims bonus of command. He can be equipped with any type of weapon except the heavy weapons.
- Gangers: they are the basic men of the gang. They have correct starting characteristics and can be equipped with all types of weapons safe of the special and heavy weapons. They can collect money near the territories subjected to the gang.
- Hefty men: they are the large arm of the gangs. Robust and imposing, they can be equipped with destroying heavy weapons which bring one supports considerable with the group, and have technological knowledge to maintain them in good state.
- Kids: Kids are young people without experiment who join the gangs to play the hard ones and to become combatants. Their characteristics are weak but progress quickly to make some, with a little chance, frightening Gangers. They can be equipped with light weapons, guns and grenades.
Outlanders
The supplement Outlanders left one month after Necromunda . This supplement is presented in the shape of a box containing an additional handbook and gauges, tokens and decorations.
The handbook introduces especially new rules: the option to play of the gangs outlaw, four new gangs, several new mercenaries and the possibility of playing of the campaigns arbitrator , managed by a referee or a leader of play named arbitrator.

the hunters spyriens are a group of rich person young people come from the Whorl, vêtus powerful Exosquelette S heavily armed. Their descent in the Under-World is a kind of rite of initiation. It is the only type of gang which does not make use of money; with the place, the points of experiment which the spyriens gain are also used them to improve their equipment.
- the renegade ratskins are the equivalent, in Necromunda , of the Indians of Far-West. Their armament is slightly lower than that of the normal gangs, but their knowledge of the Under-World gives them special capacities. They can moreover count a chamane in their rows.
- the redemptionists are a sect of fanatic crusaders. Their religious fury makes them particularly powerful to the body to body. They do not have heavy weapons, but their deacons can have special weapons like flame throwers.
- the digger are inhabitants of the most dangerous zones and poisons of the Under-World. They are very badly equipped but some of them have useful changes, like additional claws or arms. Colossal man-lizards called Zeks act as carriers of heavy weapons.
